A country house in Arteaga, Coahuila, comfortably hosting eight to ten people, with two bedrooms, a multipurpose mezzanine and indoor and outdoor social areas.
The challenge
A steep mountain lot with cold winters, and the wish for a home to gather family and friends around the fire and the landscape.
The approach
The project steps with the topography through split levels: less earthwork, lower foundation costs and a more dynamic spatial experience. A south-facing window wall captures winter sun and warms the living area naturally, while the fireplace and mezzanine become the heart of the house.
Materials and atmosphere
Stone, wood and large panes of glass: materials that age well in a mountain climate and, at night, reveal the warmth inside from the forest.
